Process Improvement: Can you do it on your own ?

Many companies have started their own process improvement department. This is smart and cost efficient. Your own staff have the business know-how and most of them also posses the process know-how.

What they do not know is that your need to go beyond your own comfort zone to find the optimal and new solutions. Can we only do this with consultants than? I do not think so, because we also need the internal knowlegde to be effective.
